Artist Statement – “Love Songs”
Orchestrating the material and the volitional, art manifests itself through the use of shape, line, movement and color. An entire series was arranged rhythmically in an unfolding succession of artistic expressions. Hands waltzed in and out of each piece as the senses were caught up in a rhapsody of color. In the moving and shifting, sometimes layering of fabric, a cohesive pattern or design emerged. The finale of freshly painted white frames from years past unite to commence the indelible celebration of love and art.

All works are titled after actual love songs, some current and others from past decades. The Hotel graciously piped in the music to accompany the exhibition. All works are done in fabric, pasted onto canvas-mounted-birch panels, with the exception of “Con Te Partiro” (below) and were created specifically to marry each freshly painted white vintage frame.

“Con Te Partiro” – Andrea Bocelli
“Con te partirò” (literally meaning “With you I will leave”) is an Italian song famously performed by Andrea Bocelli, who first sang it at the 1995 Sanremo Festival and recorded it on his album of the same year, Bocelli. Written by Francesco Sartori (music) and Lucio Quarantotto (lyrics), the single was first released as an A-side single with “Vivere” in 1995, topping the charts, first in France, where it became one of the best selling singles of all time, and then in Belgium, breaking the all-time record sales there.
